What does THMA do?
Everything we do is centered around and results from building mutually beneficial relationships.
Our goal is to serve ministers, their families, and their teams by helping them fulfill God’s purposes in both their ministry assignments and personal lives.
- Resources and Services
- When requested, we either provide or we work to connect members with the necessary resources to meet the current needs.
- Spiritual Guidance and Accountability
- THMA Leadership Team offers spiritual guidance and ecclesiastical accountability, without exercising hierarchical authority.
- Mutual Support
- Community members provide prayer, encouragement, and assistance to each other and non-members as well who are Biblical Christian ministers.
- Peer Ministry
- Community members invest in one another by sharing our insights, experiences and areas of expertise gained from our various ministry roles.
- Watch Care
- This includes safeguarding one another through mutual peer accountability, shared prayer, and confidential Biblical counseling or coaching provided by leadership when needed by addressing both personal challenges and public ministry concerns.
What does THMA not do?
While THMA exists to support and serve ministers, there are specific boundaries we maintain:
- We won’t intrude into your ministry.
- We won’t dictate that you follow “our way” of doing ministry.
- We won’t demand financial payments of dues, fees, or tithes from members.
Who does THMA serve?
We serve Biblical Christians who are actively engaged in ministry service and leadership at various levels. Those we serve and work with include:
- Community – which consists of:
- General Members
- Alliance Ministry Members
- Chartered and Associated Churches and/or Parachurch Ministries.
- Non-members: indirectly through relationships with THMA members.
- “Members On Mission”: THMA members who serve with non-member ministers in their local communities, helping them do what God has called them to do.
Is THMA a denomination?
No, THMA is not a denomination, nor do we aim to become one.
THMA is not affiliated with or an extension of any denomination or convention.
What does “Denominationally Neutral” mean?
Our membership includes Biblical Christians from both denominational and non-denominational backgrounds.
We respect the differences among various Biblical Christian denominations and do not favor or support one denomination over another.
We also do not allow denominational agendas to create division. Our focus is on unity in Christ, building up our common faith through the foundation of Scripture.
Our fellowship and mutual support are rooted in faith in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
However, we do not recognize as “Biblical Christians” any organizations or groups that have abandoned the Biblical Gospel in favor of socially or politically driven messages, or those seeking approval from the secular world.
How can THMA support my ministry?
As a Biblical Christian minister, you are called to excel in your specific role and in achieving the goals set for your ministry.
Whenever you need assistance to enhance your success or develop new ministry plans, THMA is here to support you in reaching those goals.
We invite you to contact us with your specific needs or concerns, and we’ll explore how we can serve you. We welcome the opportunity to connect and assist you in any way! Why wait?
Is membership only for ordained pastors?
Not at all! THMA membership is open to any Biblically faithful Christian. Christ considers us all His ambassadors and ministers for His Kingdom, so being ordained or licensed is not a requirement for membership!
NOT JUST FOR PASTORS!
We support and serve those called to all roles of formal ministry service and leadership, including:
- Apostolic
- Prophetic
- Evangelistic
- Pastoral
- Teaching
We also support those engaged in less formal ministry services, such as:
- Bible Group Teachers
- Men’s/Women’s Group Leaders
- Sunday School Teachers
- Home Bible Group Leaders
- Any viable ministry service
Note:
- THMA does not participate in, support, or endorse the New Apostolic Reformation, nor do we practice its methods, teachings, or doctrine.
- THMA does not support or practice popular, non-Biblical ideas about the ministry of prophets.
Can THMA help me get ordained?
Yes, THMA has an ordination process.
We take the ordination of ministers with the utmost seriousness and are pleased to ordain members who:
- Are Biblical Christians
- Have at least a moderate Biblical Worldview
- Meet the Scriptural qualifications for ministry
- Meet our Bible knowledge requirements
If you meet these criteria, we are ready to assist you in your calling and ordination journey.
Do I need THMA credentials if I already have ministry credentials?
You are welcome to retain your present ministry credentials as long as they are issued by a recognized ecclesiastical authority.
In such cases, THMA recognizes your existing ministry credentials and will issue you THMA credentials in addition to those you already carry.
This ensures that you are officially an Alliance Ministry Member with the full support and recognition of True Hope Ministries of America.
Can overseas missionaries join THMA?
Yes, you can be a ministry member, provided your ministry is based in the USA.
While we do not have the structure to “send” mission ministers to foreign fields, we do require that we can verify your accountability to a recognized ecclesiastical authority to maintain ministry integrity.
This ensures that, while you’re working abroad, you are still supported and held accountable within the larger framework of ministry.
Does THMA assist churches?
Yes, we support both established and new church congregations. We offer a variety of ways to provide you with, or referring you to help with:
- Church staff resources
- Church growth resources
- Outreach ministry resources
- Ministry development services and resources
From offering advice and guidance in planning, to assisting with drafting your founding documents, to referring you to resources for acquiring the legal and banking recognition necessary, True Hope Ministries consider it a privilege to help start new church congregations and other types of ministries.
We also work with both traditional “sanctuary churches” and house churches in the belief that both models are needed, and each serve to complement the ministry of the other.
